Born in the seaside town of Durban in South Africa, Joelene spent much of her childhood playing in and around the water.
As a young adult she moved to Cape Town where she completed her university education and earned a degree in Accounting Science, with honors in Audit and Tax. She quickly gained employment as an auditor and then as a tax adviser to a large accounting firm, working with over 600 clients including companies, trusts, and individuals. Joelene also returned to school and earned a degree in Elementary Education, working for two years as an elementary school teacher which she found to be inspiring and embraced passionately.
She began her career in yachting recently during 2013, following her love of travel, cuisine and cultures from around the world. She has sailed the Mediterranean, Europe and Asia, as well the Caribbean Islands, including Cuba and Jamaica. She also spent 6 months sailing off the beaten track through Central America, following the Tennessee River and navigating through the locks from Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, Kentucky and Alabama to name a few places. With her current move to Panama, she is enjoying exploring all the beautiful surrounding islands and exquisite sea-life, while working on her new found hobby; fishing and learning Spanish.
Following an endless summer with an ever changing fast pace career, she is a happy go lucky, ultimate foodie, lover of life, and looks forward to being of service to you whilst creating a unique and unforgettable experience on-board M/Y Ms B Haven.
